How Have Your Say works (and why it's only 10 cents a vote)

Every parent has heard it: "Why is there never ___ in my lunch?"

Good news. Now you can do something about it besides sigh into your coffee.

Have Your Say is how I'll Pack A Lunch families vote on what shows up in next week's lunches. It costs only 10 cents a vote, and the top picks actually make the menu. This is your lunch board meeting — no PowerPoint required.

The short version

1. Go to illpackalunch.com/have-your-say.
2. Pick an amount. Every 10¢ = 1 vote.
3. Split your votes however you want across this week's candidates.
4. The top choices get added to the menu the following week.
5. We pack it. We deliver it. Your kid gets the thing they voted for. Everyone wins (especially you).

What can you vote on?

The ballot changes weekly, but it's built from a few kinds of picks:

• 🍓 Fruit Picks — which fresh fruit lands in lunches next week.
• 🍱 Special Menu Items — new mains we're considering.
• ⭐ Keep This Week's Specials — loved a This Week Only item? If it hits 50 votes, we add it to the menu permanently.
• 🧃 Free Add-ons — vote on the drinks, snacks, and treats in the free add-on lineup.
• 🔙 Bring Back Old Favourites — miss something we retired? If it reaches 100 votes, it comes back.

Why charge anything at all?

Fair question. Two reasons:

1. It keeps votes real. A dime is tiny, but it means every vote comes from a family who actually cares what's in the lunchbox — not a bot, not a bored cousin clicking 400 times.

2. It goes toward meals for families who need them. Those 10¢ votes go toward providing meals for families that can’t afford them.

And because it's only 10 cents a vote, you can go big on the one item your kid won't stop talking about, or spread a few votes around and play kingmaker.

If you've got vote credit on your account, you can use it to vote — no payment needed. You'll see your balance at the top of the Have Your Say page when you're logged in.

Kids: this is your moment

Pro move: sit down with your kid and vote together. Let them make the case for their pick. Five minutes, a couple of dimes, and you've got a lunch they're excited to open — and a tiny lesson in democracy. (Results may include strong feelings about fruit.)

What happens after you vote

• Votes close Monday at midnight. Winners are announced Tuesday.
• Winners show up on the menu the following week — look for them under Menu → This Week Only or in the free add-on picks.
• We'll shout out results on Instagram and Facebook on Tell Me About It Tuesday and What We Added Wednesday.
